German-Polish Coastal Dialogues in the Baltic Framework

Conditions and Perspectives for Development of ICZM

Participants

International scientists from the eastern European Baltic Sea countries, ICZM-Oder project participants, local government representatives from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and from the Voivodship West Pomerania, as well as representatives from various German ministries will be invited. To a large extent participants will consist of scientists affiliated to ICZM-Oder and LOICZ from Germany, Poland, and other countries. A good mix of natural and social scientists is intended to ensure a high degree of interdisciplinarity and that the complexity of coastal man-agement challenges is viewed from all important angles. This will also serve to enhance the integration of national, regional, and global research. Key policy and decision makers as well as practitioners in the field of coastal science and management from Poland and Germany, and national and international NGOs will be invited as well. Stakeholder representatives from local communities and local and central governments are also encouraged to participate. This is intended to ensure that a transdisciplinary link between science, policy, decision making, and implementation of improved coastal practices is established. English is the official language of the Conference.
